El increíble
mundo de las palabras es un blog
realizado por los estudiantes de tercer semestre de la Licenciatura en
Enseñanza del Idioma Inglés (LEII) de la Facultad de Educación de la
Universidad Autónoma de Yucatán. Este proyecto forma parte de los contenidos de
la asignatura de
Lingüística Comparativa y se presentó de manera pública en el LEII Academic Fest el 15 de noviembre de 2012.
En esta asignatura los alumnos estudiamos y comparamos los aspectos lingüísticos que forman parte de la lengua inglesa y la castellana, como son: Las funciones de la lengua, gramática comparativa y el vocabulario, desde el punto de vista sociolingüístico y la cultura de
los lugares donde el español y el inglés son hablados como primer idioma, entre otros temas.
El español y el inglés han cambiado a través del tiempo y poco a poco han ido consolidándose hasta ocupar los primeros cinco lugares entre las principales lenguas habladas en el mundo. La diversidad de países entre los que se hablan ha dado lugar a una variedad de dialectos de estas dos lenguas debido a los acuerdos realizados en las diversas comunidades lingüísticas y que están directamente relacionados a sus diferentes culturas.

El contenido de este blog se centra en el análisis del
vocabulario y pretende dar a conocer una selección de palabras cuya variación
depende de aspectos relacionados con la ortografía, la fonética y el acento, y
el significado, que dan origen a los regionalismos. Estos regionalismos o
variaciones pueden ocurrir entre diversos estados en un mismo país, o bien
entre los diferentes países, dependiendo del lugar en el que se hable el
idioma.
En el blog se compara una selección de palabras de provenientes de diferentes contextos, pero que comparten un idioma en común. En el caso del castellano se encuentran comparaciones dialectales entre países como México, Colombia, Cuba y España. Sobre el idioma inglés se señalan
diferencias entre el Reino Unido, Canadá, Australia y los Estados
Unidos.
En el blog se compara una selección de palabras de provenientes de diferentes contextos, pero que comparten un idioma en común. En el caso del castellano se encuentran comparaciones dialectales entre países como México, Colombia, Cuba y España. Sobre el idioma inglés se señalan

The Amazing World of the Words is a blog designed by the third semester students of the BA in English Language Teaching (LEII) from the Faculty of Education in Universidad Autónoma de Yucatán. This project is part of the Comparative Linguistics syllabus and it was made public as part of the LEII Academic Fest on November 15th, 2012.
In this subject we, students, deal with and compare the linguistic features which are part of the English and the Spanish language, such as: The functions of language, comparative grammar and vocabulary, from the sociolinguistic point of view, and the culture of those places where Spanish and English are spoken as the first language, among other topics.
Spanish and English have been changing throughout the time and have gradually strengthened until reaching the top five of the most widely spoken languages in the world. The several countries where they are spoken have favoured the birth of a number of dialects of these two languages, due to agreements made by the different linguistic communities, which are directly related to their different cultures.
This blog’s content focuses on the analysis of vocabulary and its goal is to show a selection of words whose variations depend on aspects related to spelling, phonetics and accent, and meaning, which result in regionalisms. Such regionalisms or variations can occur among different places within the same country, as well as among different countries, according to the place where such language is spoken.
A variety of words from different contexts of the language are compared in this blog. Regarding Spanish, dialectal comparisons among countries like Mexico, Colombia, Cuba and Spain will be found. As for as English, differences among the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and the United States are pointed out.
We hope that the content of this blog will become a useful, versatile and active tool, which will allow us to gather those specific features of vocabulary. Your comments will be greatly appreciated.
